Zeus gave her a gift; a jar which contained all the evil of mankind.
But the woman took the lid off the big jar with her hands,
And scattered all the miseries that spell sorrow for men.
Only Hope was left there,

Stuck under the lip of the jar.

'Under the Lip of the Jar' reinterprets classical mythology within the context of evolving technology, much like Neoclassicism reimagined myths in its own era. This research book intertwines timeless societal patterns with the pressing issues of our digitised world, exposing and challenging the role of artificial intelligence.

By placing mythological allegories into a contemporary landscape, it reflects on how these ancient narratives echo through history, mirroring current events. The project delves into the existential uncertainties of technological dystopia, exploring the complexities of human relationships, societal decay, and the ongoing battle between 'order' and 'chaos.'

Archival images are integrated to act as a 'time capsule for the future,' capturing the stages of technological evolution. This integration shifts the focus from the observer (AI) to the observed, turning the gaze back onto the technologies shaping our world. Through this dynamic, Under the Lip of the Jar invites reflection on the power and reach of AI, critiquing issues like surveillance and data collection.

This research book constructs a compelling narrative that bridges past innovations with present realities and future possibilities, prompting deep reflection on the enduring impact of technology on society.
